MADDI QUAMME

I remember sitting in geography in 5th grade looking at a world map, not paying an ounce of attention to my teacher and wondering what undiscovered frogs are found in the Amazon, does a Yeti really live in the mountains of Nepal, and was it possible to kayak the Nile? Fortunately for me, COVID changed my plans of becoming an ecologist (or maybe just post poned), and I have set off to achieve all of my childhood dreams of exploring the world, working unique jobs, studying art, listening to new music, reading new literature, observing the impact of climate change and sustainable living, trying new foods, and discovering how happinesses can be so simple. While I don’t exactly plan on searching for the Yeti, I hope to travel to 30 countries before I turn 30 and sharing my favorite experiences here.

To travel and to live are the exact same concept in my mind. Everyone is different of course, but for me, I couldn't imagine a life without travel. Nothing in the world gives me more excitement than trying new cuisines, learning about a new culture and its history, or exploring a new natural landscape. I am originally from Columbus, Ohio and spent basically my entire life there until I was done with school. After that I moved out of state and haven't stopped moving since. I have been lucky enough to have lived all over the United States and visited over 25 countries on 6 continents, but that's just the start. As the popular saying goes, "I haven't been everywhere, but it's on the list!" I have a drive deep down inside of me to see all of the wonders of our world, whether natural or manmade, and live every experience I possibly can, and now I want to share these experiences and knowledge with all of you!
